Labia reduction surgery removes long or uneven labia minora (vaginal lips) that often cause irritation, rubbing and discomfort during sexual intercourse, excersize or with certain types of clothing. This surgery can also relate to the labia majora (larger outer lips) to make it less prominent. Labia surgery is most often done in the operating room but in many cases surgery can be done in the office under local anesthetic at dramatically decreased costs. This procedure takes 60 to 90 minutes to perform.
